T8 means having 8 “ts,” where one “t” equals 1/8 inch, and one inch equals 25.4mm, making each “t” approximately 3.175mm. Generally, T5 tubes are 5cm shorter than T8 tubes (the length varies, so do the connectors). Since the inert gas filled is a unique mixture, it not only better protects the cathode of the tube, aiding in its startup but also appropriately reduces the charging force of the tube, further increasing the lumens output of the tube. Thus, even though the power of the tube is reduced, the total lumens output does not decrease, leading to improved efficacy. In other words, T5 is brighter and more energy-efficient than T8.
Differences in Application Between T5 and T8 Light Strips:
Both T5 and T8 lights have their specific applications.
