PCB Material List

I. Overview of PCB Materials

PCB (Printed Circuit Board) is an indispensable component in modern electronic devices. As the support for electronic components and the provider of electrical connections, it plays a crucial role in electronic equipment. PCB materials, which are the basic materials for constructing PCBs, directly affect the quality and application range of PCBs.

PCB materials are diverse and can be mainly classified into organic and inorganic materials based on their substrates. Organic materials, such as epoxy resin and glass fiber cloth, are made through impregnation, pressing, and other processes. They have excellent electrical, mechanical, and processing properties and are widely used in various electronic devices. Inorganic materials, such as ceramics and alumina, have high temperature resistance and high insulation properties, making them suitable for special applications like high-frequency and high-power environments.

II. Common Types of PCB Materials

FR-4 (Glass Fiber Reinforced Epoxy Resin Board):

Characteristics: Excellent electrical properties, mechanical strength, and heat resistance. It is one of the most commonly used materials for making PCBs.

Applications: Widely used in computers, communication equipment, consumer electronics, and other fields.

CEM-1 (Paper-Based Copper-Clad Laminate):

Characteristics: Relatively low price with certain electrical and mechanical properties.

Applications: Suitable for low-end electronic products with less demanding performance requirements.

CEM-3 (Glass Fiber Paper-Based Copper-Clad Laminate):

Characteristics: Combines the advantages of FR-4 and CEM-1, offering high mechanical strength and electrical performance.

Applications: Suitable for electronic products with certain performance and cost requirements.

Aluminum-Based Board:

Characteristics: Good heat dissipation and electrical properties, suitable for high-power-density electronic devices.

Applications: Widely used in LED lighting, power modules, and other fields.

Ceramic Board:

Characteristics: Extremely high temperature resistance and insulation properties, suitable for special applications like microwave and radio frequency.

Applications: Mainly used in high-end electronic devices such as microwaves and RF equipment.
